KENZO FW18 - PFWM

“Oh my life... is changing every day, in every possible way”.

The Kenzo show was a monumental feat for a number of reasons, not least because of how it innovatively combined theatre, film and fashion into a spectacle that one has probably never seen on a catwalk show. A live theatre production was projected onto big screens across the cavernous venue, giving you the impression that you were watching a 90’s movie of Humberto Leon’s (one half of Kenzo’s Creative Directing team) sister’s wedding (the name of the show was called “My Sister’s Wedding”).

But what was the stand-out moment of the show, and probably of the whole Fashion Week, was when towards the end of the live movie the starring character started reciting “oh my life, is changing everyday, in every possible way...”, from the Cranberries’ song Dreams, with the models walking out and finally standing under a rain of confetti, dancing.

It was a beautiful tribute to the lead singer of the band Dolores O’Riordan who passed away recently. It served as an emotional and epic finale to a massive show that rightly closed Fashion Week.

If there was ever any doubt which of the Fashion Weeks is the best at the moment, this men’s fashion week certainly put the issue to bed: Paris rules.
