Ka Wa Key takes all the streetwear staples – dungarees, sweaters, leather jackets – and reworks them using interesting materials and silhouettes. His S/S 2019 collection was free-spirited and expressive; oversized dungarees and denim jackets were tie-dyed with different pastel colours, giving that ‘straight out of the art studio’ vibe. Tough leather jackets keep the collections rooted in streetwear staples, but the unnerving netted masks keep you on your toes.
Ka Wa Key keeps his collections simple, but they work hard to express a whole lot more than the standard streetwear trend. Having been nominated as a semi-finalist for the upcoming International Woolmark Prize and showcased his collections in New York and London amongst others, he’s a name to watch.
